How do I Sign Words in the Past Tense?

Many members of ASLdeafined have asked about signing words in the past tense.  And, it is really easy to do.  Here are some examples to help you out.

Example 1:  When you are signing, if you start off your phrase with words like, “Yesterday”, “Last week”, “A month ago”, “Last year” , all the verbs that follow will be past How do I Sign Words in the Past Tense?tense automatically.

Example 2:  To make any verb past tense, all you have to do is sign the verb + the sign for “finish”. (click on the videos below)

GO + FINISH = WENT

SAY + FINISH = SAID

CATCH + FINISH = CAUGHT

SEE + FINISH = SAW

TALK + FINISH = TALKED

 

Try your best to start of your ASL sentences with past tense.  It will make your ASL conversations flow nicely.
