Topicalization: WH and Y/N

Non manual behaviors are used to distinguish between certain types of signs and questions.

For example: You can sign DON’T LIKE, or you can sign LIKE while shaking your head.  Both are acceptable in the Deaf community.

For a yes/no question:
Raise your eyebrows and widen your eyes
Lean your head forward
Hold the last sign in your sentence
For a wh-word question:
Lower your eyebrows
Lean your head forward
Hold the last sign in your sentence (usually the wh-word)

Your dominant hand would be the hand that moves while your non-dominant hand will remain stationary.
